Improv Sewing - Book Tour, Reviews, Workshop, and More!

Improv Sewing has just hit book store shelves, and there is a whole lot of buzz surrounding it. So far, all customer reviews from Google and Amazon have a 5 star rating! Give this book a preview and check out some of the great projects for yourself.

VERDICT — An excellent sewing book for beginners, although experienced tailors will also enjoy the simple yet tailored patterns and creative approach. Library Journal, May 2012

A must-add for sewers who want to work outside the parameters of paper patterns and precise measurements. This soothing, empowering style of teaching sewing is a nice contrast to the more rigid directions promoted in other recent sewing books. Blum and Immergut show how to use measurements to draft five basic designs — a two-panel dress, a four-panel dress, a two-panel skirt, a wrap skirt, and a stretch panel skirt — which then become the basis for dozens of variations in the rest of the book. As their subtitle promises, there are more than 100 patterns here, making this a deeper resource than many beginning sewing books. This book is well worth the price; there’s lots to daydream about and run across the needles.
Publishers Weekly, March 2012

Last week, Improv Sewing authors, Nicole Blum and Debra Immergut, made their way across the continent leaving inspired crafters in their wake. They hopped on a plane in Connecticut, landed in Colorado, spoke and signed books at a few events, and then moved on to California — busy ladies! Read more about their book tour on the Improv Diary.
